A recent report from the United States has reported a growing trend of soon-to-be-brides turning to cosmetic surgery to help create the “perfect” look for their wedding day.

Doctor Tenley Lawton (a Newport Beach based plastic surgeon) reported that brides are spending anywhere between 200-12,000.00 dollars on procedures to help them feel and look their best on their wedding day.

Among the most sought after procedures are wrinkle reduction with Botox and dermal fillers (such as Juvaderm), breast augmentationliposuction and rhinoplasty.

It is important for brides to plan well ahead when considering a bridal procedure as typically it takes about 6 months before final results are seen.

Brides-to-be are advised to be cautious and to have a realistic outlook on cosmetic surgery. It is best to seek a slight enhancement and not to overdo surgery.

Here in Melbourne, Australia we have noticed that it is not just brides-to-be but also close relatives such as the mother of the bride who seek slight cosmetic enhancements prior to the wedding.  It is quite common, for example, for the mother of the bride to undergo a minimally invasive facelift procedure (also known as a MACS lift) in order to look their best on their daughter’s wedding day. Non-surgical rejuvenating procedures such as microdermabrasion and laser skin tightening are also popular.
