The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is strongly advising all Australians to reconsider travelling overseas for cosmetic surgery with a survey showing that the number of Australians returning home with complications is increasing.
- 16.5% of patients who undergo cosmetic surgery overseas experience surgical complications
- 8.7% of patients require treatment once back in Australia
- Breast surgery patient most often require corrective treatment (representing 68% of all revision procedures), followed by facial surgery patients (15%) and then abdominal surgery patients (8%)
